Love is a choice

It's been a while since I 've entered a post. Life has been so blissfully busy with two kids I hardly have a moment to myself....and I secretly love it! In fact I love it so much we are continuing our journey towards baby #3, right on into crazy town I am sure.

I wanted to keep this to myself, to not share this part of our journey with you all. I wanted to feel breezy and uncommitted. Nonchalant even. Then I realized some where along the way Infertility, be it your first round of clomid or your 20th IVF, is not something you can casually do. And why did I have this need to make it so unimportant? The answer to that question is complicated...as love usually is.

I am not the doe eyed infertility virgin I was when starting my journey to mommy bliss. All I could see or think was, "I will do whatever it takes to be a momma!" Now I know more. I know the joy of seeing my babies heart beat on the monitor. I know the aching pain when they look at you and say, "I am sorry. We can't find a heart beat today." I know the challenge of loving my children well. I know the amazing moment when they place that tiny little person in your arms and you honestly feel like your heart might burst with love. All of this knowing, it's scary. I know all that can go right and how wonderful that is. I know, if not first hand then through loving my friends, all that can go wrong...so earth shockingly wrong.

And still I wondered what would that doe eyed me have said to my current self? She would remind me how all I have ever wanted was a big family. And how deep the void was then without a baby to hold. She would yell at me to commit already! This is a baby not a boob job! Get serious Amber!

This caused me to realize there is nothing breezy about IVF or in this case FET. (Frozen embryo transfer) When I am faced with weeks of synthetic hormones, hysteroscopy, rude insurance coordinators and feeling like a crazed lunatic, I have to make a choice. I have to choose this baby long before I ever see a positive or negative on a pregnancy test.

Love is not always easy. Love is a choice. An amazing, difficult, rewarding choice. And I am ready to make that choice for this child as I did for the ones who came before them.

Miss Emmie is 15 months old! WOW! She is such a joy! ALL girl! (To match/balance Cib's ALL boy)
She loves dancing, jewelry and purses. She is still not saying much: Momma, Dada, Bye Bye and Roar. She is our little mover. She started walking at 11.5 months and hasn't stopped since. She also a slight flair for the dramatic....if you can imagine. She weighs in at 23 pounds (73%) 31 3/4 inches tall (87%) She is catching up to Cib stats quick. She still loves to eat eat eat. Mainly any and all bread products and cheese! Her meal times last any where from one to one and half hours. I swear she is french! :) She steals my heart every day and brings more joy to our home than there are words for. I love you Bird girl!

Emmie's 1st Birthday

Emmie's actual birthday, August 8, 2012 was a fun day. We spent it with one of our favorite people Granny Nanny! We asked our selves what would Emmie want to do if she could tell us? The anwser - eat her favorite meal and go some place new and exciting!

So we went to Goode Co. seafood and she ate a giant piece of salmon, some crab cake, shrimp remoulade, and and and....Emmie's favorite dinner is seafood! Then we headed across the street for her favorite food - period. Frozen yogurt at Orange Leaf! Then on to the indoor place castle at our local mall. Emmie and Cib played until they were exhausted. Emmie hoped in her stroller, drank her bottle and went right to sleep. After a short nap she opened gifts and had a special cupcake Granny brought her.

Needless to say, we all went to bed very early that night and very happy.

Oh how very behind I am on blogging. Which is in a strange way a victory-I have been too busy enjoying a month of crazy fun things to write about them.

On July 13th Austin and I went on a vacation all. by. our. selves. Ahhh...It was really wonderful and special to spend one on one time together. It was our 10th wedding anniversary and we had the best time in Las Vegas! Cib and Emmie had a special time as well at camp Granny Nanny.

On July 15th my sweet Cib turned 4! (more on this in it's own post :))

August 8th our precious Emmie turned 1!
Whew....and now back to school!

Prepare for a bloggy catch up to follow!

Spring Break 2012 and Bloggy Catch Up

I am so behind on the blog...I just downloaded pictures all the way back from Christmas! So we will be playing blogging catch up in the near future. So things may be a little out of order.
But I wanted to start off with a post about Em and her new tricks!
Emmie continues to be an absolute delight! She is 'passionate' when she needs to be but mostly is easy going and loves loves loves to be out with people! She dances constantly and rarely meets a stranger. Emmie is sitting up very well on her own and is rolling all over the place. I am sure crawling is just around the corner. She continues to babble including dada, mama and yaya.

She loves to eat! She is over baby food though - don't sit next her and eat anything and not expect to share a bite or five with Ms. Em. She wants real food and lets you know about it. Cib loves sharing his snacks with her. He even snuck her first cookie bite!

Cib is doing great and really settling into being a great big brother. He is starting T ball this Spring. He continues to excel at swim lessons and has recently graduated to a dolphin level! He is now working on different strokes and diving. His favorite subjects in Preschool are Math and Science.

We have spent the last week on Spring break! Here are some pictures from Bandera, A picnic, Seaworld (including Breakfast with the Sesame Street Crew)  and a lil mini photo shoot with Em at 7 1/2 months old.

Update on Cibbers

Cib has been growing so fast I feel like I can't keep up....no really, I can't keep up!

He is what my mother would call 'very active' and 'all boy'. He is at a fun age! He can make up stories, play pretend and have a whole (not always logical) detailed conversation. His memory is like an elephant! They have good memories, right?! Obviously didn't get that from me....

His favorite pass times right now:
Ipad
Bounce houses (anytime, anywhere)
Running
Playing with his superhero toys (batman, spider man, etc)
Books - the child still loves to be read to! Yea!
Chickfila (If he is bored he will ask, "Mom, let's do something really special! Can we go to chickfila?!")

Funny Cib Sayings:
Awesome-sauce!
Overheard talking to his sister, "Emmie, don't cry! I am right here! It's ok! I love you!" (melt my heart)
"Mom, if I feed my rain dragon (an ipad game) skittles, will I get a rainbow dragon?" Smart kid!
"Mom, you did such a good job! You deserve a star!"

Trying Threes are well...trying. But not a day escapes me without my thoughts going to this boys smiles and giggles. He is still daily, my little miracle man!

Emmie 6 Months

Wowzers! Time is flying and it's been way too long since I have sent an update to the blog.

Yesterday marked Emmie's 6 month birthday! She is getting SO big! We had her shots today and check up. She weighs 16 pounds & 12oz (64%)and is 27 inches long(90%). A picture of health!

Her 6 month tricks:
Sitting up on her own for around 3 minutes before wavering.
Babbling (constantly - way more than Cib - like her momma)
Blowing Raspberries
Rolling back to front and front to back (when she feels like it)
Chewing on everything
Eating all fruits, veggies and grains (Starting fish this week)
And for my own records, weening from breastfeeding.

Emmie continues to be a complete delight and LOVES people and to be out. She is my little 'go girl'. I couldn't be more eaten up with her!
Momma loves you bird girl!
